To build, demolish, construct, extend, alter, repair or convert the use of premises in the Republic of Cyprus, you must obtain the following:
Refer to the relevant municipal council, district officer or community council, depending on where the immovable property is located (a municipality, district or community).
The application for a building permit must be submitted by hand either by the owner of the immovable property, or an authorised representative, to the relevant local authority.

The application may sometimes require a specialised study, e.g. a static study, a study of the building electrical system (electrical study), a mechanical study, a study of the sewage system, or on the energy performance of the building.
On-site inspections may also need to be carried out in order to inspect the immovable property and the surrounding area. Other departments or services may also need to get involved in the inspections, e.g. the Environmental Services, the Cyprus Fire Service, the Department of Labour Inspection, or the Public Health Services.
